True art in the hands and heart A beautiful plate. Better in natural. I ordered it as a gift for a bird lover. By mistake they sent me another one and Mr. Sosa was kind enough to give me the wrong one and sent me the one I asked for, so I was able to give a great gift. They are both beautiful. Thank you for your generosity. The person who received them is a follower of your paintings and it made him very happy. Thank you very much.
European Turtle Dove I have this painting, and others, a marvel, I have the house with several paintings of Manuel, thrush, woodcock, quail, if the house would be bigger I would have more, thanks Manuel for making these paintings more accessible.
I was able to personalise the prints Thank you very much for your help, very professional and approachable. All the best!

Manuel Sosa -
Spending hours camouflaged in a suffocating dryland just to see the sandgrouse come down to drink is one of those naturalist's follies that are worth it. In this oil painting, I wanted to portray this pair in their environment, highlighting their spectacular plumage that looks like pure camouflage goldsmithing. I added a lot of texture to the sandy ground and very clean tones on the chest to contrast with the ochres of the back. Finally, with the scientific annotation on the canvas, I sought that classic field notebook feel but with the power of oil painting.

What brush finesse, master! Sandgrouse are extremely difficult birds to see in the field, and even more so to portray with such fidelity. They have a plumage design that looks like authentic goldsmithing, and you've nailed it on the canvas in a spectacular way.
The contrast of the two figures against that whitish, arid ground, so typical of the drylands and moors where they live, is amazing. You have perfectly captured the golden, ocher tones and that characteristic brown and black collar they display on their chest. The textures of the feathers on the back, which look like golden scales, have incredible vibration and volume. As a detail of a naturalist master, the fine-brush scientific annotation in the upper corner gives it the definitive look of a classic field plate, but with the strength and substance of a great oil painting.
