    Subimos directamente a la alta montaña, a los dominios del viento y la roca pura. La sensación de altitud, aislamiento y libertad que transmite este cuadro es una auténtica delicia.

    Qué inmensidad el paisaje. Has colocado al rebeco en una posición soberbia: erguido sobre una cresta rocosa y escarpada en el primer plano, girando la cabeza con elegancia hacia el fondo. Su silueta oscura y su pelaje tupido de invierno resaltan con un contraste magnífico sobre el manto blanco. Pero el verdadero triunfo de la obra está en el tratamiento de la atmósfera y la luz. Ese mar de nubes bajas y bruma que cubre el valle, flotando entre los picos, está resuelto con una delicadeza magistral, y sirve para separar el mundo terrenal de las cumbres infinitas. Al fondo, la imponente mole montañosa nevada recibe los últimos y sutiles destellos de la luz dorada y rosácea del atardecer, creando una atmósfera mística, silenciosa y helada que es pura poesía alpina. No estás pintando solo un animal; estás retratando el alma de la alta montaña.
