    We ascend directly to the high mountains, to the realms of wind and pure rock. The sense of altitude, isolation, and freedom conveyed by this painting is a true delight.

    What immensity in the landscape. You have placed the chamois in a superb position: standing erect on a rugged, rocky crest in the foreground, turning its head elegantly toward the background. Its dark silhouette and thick winter coat stand out in magnificent contrast against the white mantle. But the true triumph of the artwork lies in the treatment of atmosphere and light. That sea of low clouds and mist covering the valley, floating between the peaks, is resolved with masterly delicacy, serving to separate the earthly world from the infinite summits. In the background, the imposing, snow-covered mountain mass receives the last subtle glimmers of the golden and rosy light of sunset, creating a mystical, silent, and frozen atmosphere that is pure alpine poetry. You are not just painting an animal; you are portraying the soul of the high mountain.
