Manuel, consigues plasmar con una maestría bárbara al pato por excelencia de nuestras marismas y ríos. Dominar las transparencias del agua sobre el papel para retratar la velocidad y la viveza de estas aves es algo al alcance de muy pocos.
Que bello el color del ánade azulón macho en primer plano. Ese cuello y cabeza de un verde botella metálico y encendido resalta de forma espectacular sobre el fondo limpio de la acuarela, haciendo un juego cromático perfecto con el pecho castaño y, sobre todo, con ese espéculo alar de un azul violáceo traslúcido y vibrante que parece captar la luz del sol en pleno batido de alas. La hembra, que vuela en perfecta sincronía justo debajo, muestra un diseño de plumaje críptico y pardo resuelto con una sutileza milimétrica en la pincelada. Como fondo, unos lavados limpios de acuarela sugieren la llanura de la marisma y una lámina de agua difuminada, logrando que las figuras cobren una tridimensionalidad y una nitidez brutales. Se puede sentir el silbido de las plumas cortando el aire húmedo.
