Montejo Raptor Refuge 1974 - 2024

Watercolour recently commissioned by WWF Spain for the commemoration of the anniversary of the creation of the Montejo Raptor Refuge, promoted 50 years ago by Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente. A must for bird lovers with 246 pairs of griffon vultures and an outstanding population of Egyptian vultures. The Peña del Portillo can be seen, flanked by the river Riaza. A storm is approaching, which gives drama and enhances the lights on this autumnal afternoon.

    What a colossal and spectacular work. This is a true tribute to Iberian nature and the history of conservation in our country. The Hoces del Río Riaza Natural Park and the legendary Montejo Raptor Refuge captured in sublime autumn light.
