Rompes el estatismo habitual del retrato animal para capturar el clímax de la batalla: ese gran macho a la izquierda, suspendido en el aire en pleno salto, alzando sus descomunales cuernos curvos antes de dejarse caer con todo su peso. El contrincante, plantado firmemente sobre la roca y el pastizal alpino, aguanta el envite con una fijeza en la mirada dorada que impresiona.
Técnicamente, el equilibrio entre el hiperrealismo de los animales y el minimalismo del fondo es excelso. Has resuelto el pelaje oscuro e invernal de los machos con un nivel de detalle milimétrico, definiendo la musculatura en tensión con pinceladas enérgicas y precisas. Mientras tanto, el entorno de alta montaña se funde sutilmente con los blancos del papel mediante unos lavados limpios de tonos grisáceos y violáceos que sugieren la niebla y el aire frío de las cumbres de Gredos o Guadarrama. Es una obra que respira altitud, piedra y bravura salvaje.
