These beautiful plants are native to Africa and the Middle East. They are not very demanding in their diet, feeding exclusively on the figs of the Ficus platphylla. 33 x 27 cms. Oil on panel. Manuel Sosa © 2019

True art in the hands and heart The fine art print is beautiful. It looks even better in person. I ordered it as a gift for a bird lover. By mistake, they sent me a different one, and Mr. Sosa had the wonderful gesture of gifting me the incorrect one and sending me the one I had ordered, which allowed me to give a truly magnificent gift. Both are beautiful. Thank you for your generosity. The person who received them is a follower of your paintings and was immensely happy. Many thanks.
European turtle dove I have this painting, and others too, a marvel. I have my home adorned with several paintings by Manuel: a Song Thrush, a Common Snipe, a Common Quail. If my house were bigger, I would have more. Thank you Manuel for making these paintings more accessible.
I was able to customize the fine art prints Many thanks for your help, very professional and approachable. I wish you all the best!

Richard Caron -
We travel straight to East Africa with a work that departs from the usual canons of the columbids we are accustomed to on the peninsula. The Bruce's green pigeon (Treron waalia) or Waalia pigeon is a burst of tropical color, and the way you have integrated the pair into their environment is a lesson in naturalist painting.
The first thing that captivates you is the delightful chromatic contrast. That bright, almost phosphorescent yellow breast breaks spectacularly with the bluish-grey tones of the head and neck, and is wonderfully complemented by the vinous or purple patch on the shoulders. You have perfectly captured the trophic essence of the species: one of them is fully stretched out, almost balancing on a huge branch, eagerly pecking at the wild figs of a large ficus or African fig tree. The light filtering through the dense foliage in the background, rendered with impressionistic brushstrokes loaded with greens, ochres, and luminous flashes, creates a humid, warm, and vibrant atmosphere. It is a painting that radiates life and tropical freshness. The rustic dark frame in which the work is mounted further enhances the luminosity of the canvas.
