To come across an Iberian wolf in the middle of a forest is almost a dream, as is this painting. For five years I have visited this oak grove next to my house almost every day and I have never seen a single man there. So why are there no wolves? "The last one we shot twenty years ago" Vitorio answers me...' This painting is an oil painting on canvas. 116 x 81 cms. Manuel Sosa © 1998

True art in the hands and heart A beautiful plate. Better in natural. I ordered it as a gift for a bird lover. By mistake they sent me another one and Mr. Sosa was kind enough to give me the wrong one and sent me the one I asked for, so I was able to give a great gift. They are both beautiful. Thank you for your generosity. The person who received them is a follower of your paintings and it made him very happy. Thank you very much.
European Turtle Dove I have this painting, and others, a marvel, I have the house with several paintings of Manuel, thrush, woodcock, quail, if the house would be bigger I would have more, thanks Manuel for making these paintings more accessible.
I was able to personalise the prints Thank you very much for your help, very professional and approachable. All the best!

Manuel Sosa -
Walking alone through a dense forest on a misty morning and, suddenly, this creature appearing among the trunks to fix its gaze on you is a religious experience. In this oil painting, I wanted to capture that second of pure magic: the wolf observing you in absolute silence, camouflaged with the mountain. I added a lot of material and texture to the moss on the rocks in the foreground to contrast with the lightness of the background fog that swallows the trees. In the end, I painted that unique shiver you feel when you encounter a wolf.

This painting is pure atmosphere, mystery, and countryside emotion. You perfectly manage to convey that exact second when you're walking through the woods in silence and, suddenly, between the fog and the trunks, you come across the great ghost of the forest staring at you. It's a frozen instant that chills your blood with excitement.
The handling of depth and light is a masterful painting lesson. The wolf timidly peeks out from the left, half-hidden behind a trunk, with a clean and curious gaze that stands out in the gloom. The textures of the old moss on the rocks in the foreground have incredible strength and relief, contrasting with the lightness and mysticism of that background where the trees completely blur under a beautiful white and hazy light. The atmosphere of this painting is truly amazing.

I wish all «encounters» with the wolf were like this: simply a beautiful animal, a masterpiece of nature, and a good man; and between them only curiosity and the desire to immortalize it in such a sublime way, not to destroy it.
