    ¡Qué delicia de cuadro, Manuel! Esta obra transmite el calor del verano y el aroma a cereal seco de una forma que casi se puede sentir. La perdiz roja es el emblema definitivo de nuestra fauna de secano, y representarla en ese mar dorado es una genialidad.
    Qué manejo magistral del color y la luz, ese campo de trigos o hierbas altas agostadas, batido por el sol, donde los tonos ocres y pajizos se funden con maestría. Las tres perdices rojas están soberbiamente capturadas: dos de ellas atentas en la parte superior derecha, recortándose con sus característicos collares negros y picos rojos, mientras que una tercera se asoma desde abajo a la izquierda en una disposición compositiva impecable. La pincelada, suelta y vibrante en el pastizal, le otorga un dinamismo bárbaro. Una obra con una luz mediterránea bellísima
